Find answers to common questions about Recs
Getting Started
Recs is an event discovery platform where curators share the best events in their scene. Instead of scrolling through endless listings, you get recommendations from people who actually know what's worth attending.
You can browse events by city from the homepage or use the Discover page to explore events. Each curator also has a profile showing all their recommended events, so checking out curators in your area is a great way to stay updated.
A curator is someone who recommends events on Recs. Curators are typically people with deep knowledge of a particular scene—music promoters, nightlife enthusiasts, fitness instructors, or anyone passionate about sharing great experiences.
Events & Calendars
Yes! On each event page, you'll find an option to add the event to your Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or download an ICS file for other calendar apps.
Events are tagged with categories like Music, Nightlife, Wellness, Food & Drink, and more. These help you filter and discover events that match your interests.
Curators regularly update their calendars with new events. Event dates and details are provided by curators, so we recommend checking the original event source for the most up-to-date information.
For Curators
You can apply to become a curator from the 'Apply to Curate' link in our navigation. We review applications to ensure curators have genuine expertise and a passion for sharing great events.
Once approved as a curator, you can add events from your curator dashboard. Simply fill in the event details, add images, and publish. Events will appear on your profile and in discovery feeds.
Yes, you can edit your events at any time from your curator dashboard. Updates will be reflected immediately across the platform.
You can mention other curators in your bio using @ followed by their username (e.g., @johndoe). Mentions become clickable links to their profiles, making it easy to give credit or recommend other curators.
Outreach & Your Inbox
Three ways. You choose what reaches you — set the genres and regions you care about and a minimum commission, and organizers are steered toward curators who fit. We police bad senders for you — organizer sending behavior is monitored automatically, and abusive senders are limited or paused platform-wide. And one switch opts you out of all organizer outreach, permanently. Manage it all on your outreach preferences page.
Open your outreach preferences and turn on "Opt out of all organizer outreach." You'll be added to our platform-wide suppression list and no organizer will be able to email you. Every outreach email also has an unsubscribe link in its footer.
Yes. On your outreach preferences page you can pick the genres and regions you're interested in and set a minimum commission. Organizers are steered toward curators whose preferences fit, so the outreach you get is more relevant.
Recs continuously monitors organizer sending behavior. Senders earn trust over time by sending email people actually want to receive, and accounts that generate spam signals are automatically limited or paused until the problem is resolved. The specifics are intentionally not published, and it all happens automatically with no action needed from you.
Account & Privacy
You can sign up using your email address or Google account. Creating an account lets you apply to become a curator and start sharing events.
Click 'Forgot Password' on the login page and enter your email address. We'll send you a link to reset your password.
We collect basic account information and usage data to improve your experience. For full details, please see our Privacy Policy.
To delete your account, please contact us through our Contact page. We'll process your request and remove your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Organizer Accounts & Teams
Only the current owner can do this, and the new owner must already be a team member. Go to Settings → Team, then click Transfer ownership at the bottom of the Team Members list. Pick the teammate you want to hand off to and type their name to confirm. Once you confirm, they become the owner and you become an admin — you can't undo this yourself, so the new owner would have to transfer it back.
Troubleshooting
Try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache. If the issue persists, try a different browser or device. Contact us if you continue experiencing problems.
Events are added by curators, so not every event will be on Recs. If you think an event is missing, you might suggest it to a relevant curator or apply to become a curator yourself!
On any event or curator profile, tap the menu (three dots) and select Report. Choose a reason and optionally add details — reports can be submitted anonymously. You can also contact us directly with a link to the content and a description of the issue.
